Hi, I’m Nicole — founder of Zero Waste NYC.
My journey into sustainability began in 2017 after hearing NRDC’s Rhea Suh speak at an Earth Day panel. That moment sparked a shift in both my career and daily life, leading me to move from advertising into sustainability consulting and begin actively reducing my own waste.
In 2019, I hosted my first zero-waste workshop to share what I was learning with friends and family. The response exceeded all expectations: more than 40 people showed up. What started as a small gathering quickly grew into a formal partnership with the Sanitation Foundation, and since then Zero Waste NYC has hosted over 60 events across all five boroughs of New York City.
Along the way, I joined Re:Dish, a reusable dishware program helping companies and schools reduce waste in large-scale food service operations. As a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor, I’ve worked with organizations ranging from large corporations to grassroots nonprofits, collaborating with sustainability leaders and climate advocates to turn environmental goals into real-world action.
Today, Zero Waste NYC is a community-driven platform focused on education, connection, and practical climate action. I’m passionate about creating inclusive spaces where people can learn, ask questions, and make progress — without pressure for perfection.
Outside of Zero Waste NYC, I’m a wife and mom to Logan, a lifelong Yankees fan, an iced-coffee-all-year person, and someone who appreciates a good Bravo binge.
I’d love to connect — join us at an upcoming event or reach out anytime at nicole@zerowastenyc.info.
